About the Panama City Triathlon, “Race for the Rescue” – The Race for the Rescue benefit is an annual event that was formed in 2023 by members of the Hammerdown Multisport club and the Panama City Rescue Mission. The goal of the Race for the Rescue is to further the efforts of the Rescue Mission of Bay County by raising awareness about addiction and homelessness as well as raise funds to re-open the men’s mission location through an Olympic and Sprint length triathlon.
For more than 40 years, our community’s Rescue Mission has transformed lives. They are unique as they are one of the only facilities of this kind within 100 miles. They help those who no one else can or wants to help and they assist people of our own town break through the bonds of addiction due to our successful and faith-based programs. The proceeds from this race will go to reopening the Rescue Mission which has been closed since Hurricane Michael.
